30 days for Dharun Ravi in Rutgers suicide case
A former Rutgers University student who is a webcam to spy on his gay roommate was sentenced Monday to 30 days in jail – a punishment that disappointed some activists, but the relief came, who feared he was the scapegoat of fellow freshman suicide .
Dharun Ravi, 20, would have gotten 10 years behind bars for his part in a case that burst onto the front pages when Tyler Clementi’s death threw himself off the George Washington Bridge.
